US citizens are training militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group in northern Iraq, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said, Turkish media reported Oct. 2.
Soylu noted that there are facts showing the presence of US citizens in northern Iraq in the ranks of terrorists.
He added that there are also a number of countries that provide full support to other terrorist groups.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
