Turkish ministry discloses volume of cargo shipment through Ambarli port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13

Over 7.9 million tons of cargo had been transported via Turkey’s Ambarli port in the first five months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period more than 1.1 million tons of cargo were delivered to the port by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and over 6.8 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, over 4.4 million tons of cargo had been transited via the port, the ministry said.

Over 156.6 million tons of goods were transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through May 2021, 12.8 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and 143.7 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

“At the same time, over 30.9 million tons of cargo was shipped in transit via Turkish ports,” the ministry noted.

“In May 2021, more than 31.6 million tons of goods were shipped via the ports of Turkey. In this month, the volume of cargo transportation by ships flying the Turkish flag through domestic ports amounted to 3.03 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 28.6 million tons,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, 6.51 million tons of transit cargo were handled via the ports of Turkey in May 2021.
