Iran intends to hold military exercises with neighboring countries in the near future, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Mahmoudi said, Iranian website mashreghnews.ir reported today.
Iran's ground forces will conduct joint military exercises with the relevant agencies of one of the neighboring countries, Mahmoudi said.
The negotiations on this issue are underway.
Mahmoudi said that the date and place of military exercises will be announced later.
Earlier, Iran's Deputy Chief-of-Staff of Armed Forces for Operational Affairs Brigadier General Mustafa Salami reported that Iran will hold joint military exercises with the Armed Forces of Oman in January 2013.
Salami said that joint exercises will be held in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
