Today, Baku hosted the presentation of the first Azerbaijani history portal - www.history.az.

Speaking at the event, Head of Azerbaijan's Irali Public Union Jeyhun Osmanli said the aim of creating such a portal is to provide the information about Azerbaijan's history in e-form.

"The site combines e-historical books, e-documents and other sources, as well as a digital library, photo galleries of maps, numismatic materials, carpets, and information about archaeological excavations. Each may receive broad information about every period of the country's history, and professors and students may study the necessary topics," Osmanli said.

The portal was created with the support of the Azerbaijani Youth and Sport Ministry, Azerfon, HP and the Ireli Public Association.

Noting the importance of the portal in bringing Azerbaijan's historical truth to the world, Political Analysis and Informational Provision Department Head at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov said Armenia committed genocide against Azerbaijan in 1918 and it is essential to bring the information about the Armenian genocide policy to the attention of the whole world.

"About what kind of genocide the state that itself committed genocide against the Azerbaijani people in 1918could talk? Armenia has put itself in a bad situation with its far-fetched policy. Currently, the number of wishing to leave this country is growing daily," Aslanov said.

Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad rahimov said there are number of the old Azerbaijani historical maps that kept in the foreign countries and these maps should be reflected in the portal. The portal operates in three languages and this will promote bringing Azerbaijan's historical truth to the world.
