Global Initiative UNICEF calls on the international community to contribute nearly $1.4 billion to address the urgent needs of children in 45 countries, including Kyrgyzstan, CA-news reported on Friday.

According to the statement, these funds are essential to preparation for emergencies, to strengthen the capacity of partners in the field of health and nutrition, education and early childhood development, child protection, water supply, sanitation and hygiene education, youth development and promotion of peace and tolerance among children. These tools can also help strengthen the capacity of potential communities.

UNICEF is a United Nations Programme headquartered in New York City, that provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. It is one of the members of the United Nations Development Group and its Executive Committee.
