The management of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry and a member of the Cabinet of Ministers, co-chairman of the British Conservative Party, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi have today discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, some urgent issues of regional and international politics, the Foreign Ministry said.
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi paid a visit to Tashkent organized within the bilateral cooperation program on April 7.
The sides stressed that the meeting fixes the tendencies of Uzbek-British dialogue, which includes regular contacts at the parliamentary level of two countries, Foreign Ministries' consultations, joint business forums involving the mutually beneficial trade and economic and investment cooperation of new participants and spheres.
The parties stressed that cultural and humanitarian exchanges play a significant role in the relations between the two countries. The fruitful activity of the International Westminster University in Tashkent, as well as the British Council projects being implemented in Uzbekistan play important role.
The confidence in the successful development of comprehensive relations between Uzbekistan and Great Britain was stressed.
Great Britain is one of Uzbekistan's most important economic partners in Europe. About 419 enterprises successfully operate with British capital in the country. The representative offices of 95 companies have been accredited. Westminster International University in Tashkent plays an important role in strengthening Uzbekistan's human resource potential. The operations are being conducted together with the University of Cambridge to establish the Centre for High Technologies in Tashkent.
