A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in eastern Afghanistan, bringing the military alliance's casualties to two on a single day Friday, the ISAF said, Xinhua reported.
"An International Security Assistance Force servicemember died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan today," ISAF said in a brief statement.
Another ISAF soldier was killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Afghanistan's restive southern region earlier the day, ISAF confirmed in a separate statement.
However, the statements failed reveal the nationalities of the victims, saying that it is the ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
Over 690 NATO soldiers, most of them Americans, have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.
