As of January-May 2014, the volume of e-commerce market in Azerbaijan hit 1.1 million manats, the State Statistics Committee said on June 11.
The total volume of retail e-commerce in Azerbaijan rose by 20.6 percent compared to the same period of 2013.
E-commerce market participants are legal and physical entities who are buyers of goods and services and engaged in e-commerce.
Some 79.7 percent of goods purchased in electronic form by the population of Azerbaijan during reporting period, was bought by legal entities and 20.3 percent - by physical entities. Non-food products accounted for 90.8 percent of e-commerce market turnover.
The total volume of retail commerce in Azerbaijan amounted to 8.3 billion manats in January-May 2014. The sale of consumer goods increased by 8.8 percent in the country, compared to the same period of 2013.
About 51.3 percent fell to consumer goods (food, beverages and tobacco), and 48.7 percent - to non-food products. The share of non-food products has increased by 3.7 percentage points during the reporting period.
The official exchange rate is 0.7842 AZN/USD on June 12.
