After meeting with the Armenian President, Robert Kocharan, we hope for a further incentive to hold negotiations in Baku," Yuri Merzlyakov, the Russian Co-chairman of OSCE's Minsk Group, said in Yerevan. Responding to the question by one of the reporters to explain the statement, Merzlyakov said they could not disclose all the details of the negotiations.

Merzlakov described the meeting with the 'President' of the so-called self proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Bako Saakan, in Khankandi on 16 September as fruitful. We received a lot of interesting information which we will analyze, co-chairman said.

The French mediator Bernard Fasie noted that all three mediators adhered to the same opinion that representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh should join negotiations as soon as possible. The co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group, Matthew Bryza, said that representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh had already participated in negotiations. Bernard Fassier noted that they were against the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for other reasons.
