Criminal Case on Explosion in Agstafa Region Filling Station Submitted to Court for Consideration

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The criminal case involving the explosion in the filling station in the Agstafa region of Azerbaijan was submitted to court for consideration.

The Prosecutor of Agstafa region Mubariz Najafov charged the owner of the filling station, Rahim Karimov, and Changiz Gurbanov, the chairman of Agstafa Municipality.

The fire occurred in the filling station belonging to Karimov on 29 August at 11:30a.m. As a result of the fire nine persons were injured and three died in the hospital. A criminal case has been filed over the fact by the Agstafa region Prosecutor Generl's Office.

Gurbanov is charged with Article 308 (power abuse), 313 (service forgery), as well as 162.2 (violation of environment protection rule, which caused death), 188 (violation of property rules), and 322 (arbitrariness) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The case has been submitted to Agstafa region Court for consideration.

The investigation commission reported that The Agstafa Municipality allocated 200 square metres by the Karimov's appeal on land on 21 July 2004.

Later Karimov without the permission of state structures constructed a filling station in the area in the end of 2004 and broke technical security rules.
