Ilham Aliyev Officially Nominated for  Presidency in   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 August / corr. Trend E.Babayev / The candidature of Ilham Aliyev, the current head of the state, was officially nominated for the presidency in Azerbaijan at the fourth congress of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) on 2 August.

"Should I am elected, I will defend national interests of Azerbaijan and work to strengthen the statehood," Ilham Aliyev

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October. The Central Elections Commission (CEC) officially launched the elections campaign. So far, Ana Vatan and the Social Prosperity Party have nominated President Aliyev. Moreover, the Azerbaijani Trade Unions Confederation and the Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society nominated Ilham Aliyev at their congresses.

About 650 members of the NAP participated in the party's congress. The participants of the congress took the decision to nominate President Aliyev unanimously.

Heydar Aliyev, the chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakchivan, established the NAP in 1992. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is the current chairman of the ruling party, which has been in power for 15 years.
