The first edition of the English-language version of Baku magazine has been presented in London, Azertaj reported.

Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the magazine`s editor-in-chief Leyla Aliyeva attended the presentation.

The magazine is published by the Conde Nast publishing company.

Baku's Russian-language version has been successfully published in Russia since 2007.
The magazine will familiarize English-speaking readers with both Azerbaijan`s ancient culture, history and traditions and also the modern life of Azerbaijanis.

Along with the UK, the magazine will also be available in other countries, including France, the United States and Italy.

Speaking to the presentation ceremony, Condé Nast managing director Nicholas Coleridge said Baku magazine was a very successful project. He said the magazine will contribute to better promoting Azerbaijan in Europe.

Editor-in-chief Leyla Aliyeva said the magazine was going on sale in London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Rome and other big cities.

Mrs. Aliyeva said Baku was one of the most rapidly developing cities in the world, adding the magazine features "all positive changes in Azerbaijan`s capital".

"I believe the magazine will help us to show the beauties and rich cultural traditions of our capital city, where the past meets the present and West meets East."

"It also features photos taken by famous photographers," said Mrs. Aliyeva, expressing hope that the magazine will attract wider audience.

Speaking about Baku`s hosting next year`s Eurovision song contest, Mrs. Aliyeva said "it will be a brilliant opportunity to get familiarized with our capital".

British Business Ambassador, Lady Barbara Judge, said she believes the magazine would help international readers to know Azerbaijan better. She said Azerbaijan was a country of rich culture and natural resources.

"The magazine will also contribute to strengthening the relations between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan."

GQ magazine deputy editor, Bill Prince, said he believes Baku magazine would have broad readership in London.

Wife of Russian footballer Andrei Arshavin, Yulia Arshavina, said that Baku will be hosting Eurovision contest next year, and everybody is wondering what the next host of the contest is like.
