The election campaign is being conducted well in Azerbaijan, PACE president Jean-Claude Mignon said today.
"A report by the head of the organisation's mission who visited the country before the presidential election has been heard at today's meeting of the PACE Bureau. We have taken into account the views expressed in the report. The PACE observation mission will soon visit Azerbaijan to observe the election," Mignon said at a press conference at the PACE autumn session in Strasbourg today.
The presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan on October 9.
While speaking about the meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations at PACE, the organisation's president said that holding such meetings is included in his mandate.
"This issue is in my mandate," he said. "I intend to make every effort to carry it out. We need to find the time for this meeting. The agenda of the session includes many issues. However, I intend to meet with the delegation heads of the two countries. Perhaps, such a meeting will take place during the next plenary session."
