BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on the construction of the Alijanchay reservoir, Trend reports.
The order says:
1. To build the Alijanchay reservoir on the territory of the Oghuz and Shaki districts.
2. To the State Agency of Water Resources of Azerbaijan:
2.1. Ensure that appropriate measures are taken in connection with the construction of the Alijanchay reservoir;
2.2. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, having prioritized the settlements that will be provided with drinking water as a result of the construction of the Alijanchay reservoir, and agricultural lands that are planned to be provided with irrigation water, should submit proposals within 5 months to the Commission agreed with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the relevant local executive authorities (Commission), established by the Decree No. 1986 "On measures to ensure the rational use of water resources" of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on April 15, 2020.
3. The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the executive power of the City of Shaki, the executive power of the Oghuz district and other relevant state bodies (structures) should take the necessary measures to resolve issues related to the construction of the Alijanchay reservoir.
4. The Commission should resolve the issues of coordination of the activities provided for in Parts 2 and 3 of this Order.
5. The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan should take the necessary measures to finance the construction of the reservoir specified in Part 1 of this Order in the current year and in subsequent years.
6. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan should resolve the issues arising from this Order.
