BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Today, at a meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC), issues related to summing up the results of the early presidential election held on February 7, 2024, as well as the issue of submitting the CEC protocol on the election results with relevant documents to the Constitutional Court were discussed, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Rovzat Gasimov said, Trend reports.

It was noted that all opportunities in accordance with the law and equal conditions were created for the registered seven presidential candidates to freely convey their platforms to voters, the subjects of the election campaign used their opportunities freely and without any obstacles.

All necessary measures were taken to conduct voting in accordance with the law, voters showed high activity. Through web cameras installed at 1,000 polling stations covering the entire geography of the republic, it was possible to watch the election online on voting day.

He thanked the Milli Majlis, the Cabinet of Ministers, a number of ministries and committees, and the media for the proper performance of their duties in connection with the conduct of election in accordance with the law.

Chairman of the CEC Mazakhir Panakhov recalled the requirements of Article 203.1 of the Election Code and noted that the CEC must, within no more than 10 days after voting day, sum up the election results and send the results for approval by the Constitutional Court. Then he familiarized the CEC members with the text of the draft decision on approval of the protocol of the Central Election Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic on the results of the early election of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, held on February 7, and on submitting the election results to the Constitutional Court for approval

The chairman of the commission asked members to express their opinions regarding this project. Members of the Central Election Commission voted for this decision and signed the protocol

The Central Election Commission decided to approve the protocol of the Central Election Commission on the results of the presidential election held on February 7, 2024.

It was also decided to transfer the CEC Protocol along with the relevant documents to the Constitutional Court for approval of the election results. It was also decided to publish the Protocol of the Central Election Commission.

According to the results determined by the commission, Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev was re-elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, gaining 92.12 percent of the votes of voters who took part in the election.

Voter turnout in the snap presidential election was 76.43 percent.
