At present it is necessary to extend the Odessa-Brodi oil pipeline up to the Polish town of Plotsk and further to provide crude oil to European consumers,Trend Special Correspondent in Kiev report quoting Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich.

В"The oil pipeline (В"Odessa-BrodiВ") is a way of crude oil supply diversificationВ", said Yanukovich.

Answering the question as to why the pipeline is used in a reverse direction regardless of all political declarations, Yanukovich said I would not like to blame any of our partners, but the pipeline should not remain idle.

В"Ukraine benefits from the Odessa-Brodi pipeline operating in a reverse direction. It will go on until the Polish section of the pipeline is completed and the decision made as to whose oil the line will utilize. The pipeline was installed to ensure oil supply diversification. However, time has been lost and now we shall rectify this errorВ", writes Rech Pospolita citing

Ukrainian Prime Minister.

В"Prolongation of Odessa-Brodi will enable both Ukraine and Europe to diversify energy supplies and bring economic interests of both our Countries togetherВ", said Yanukovich. Ukrainian Prime Minister called this project its most important economic event, combining the interests of Ukraine and Poland.

В"Apart from political will, we need work. If we create matching conditions for suppliers and consumers of oil this project will be successful; moreover, this matter has nothing to do with politicsВ", said Yanukovich.

Today the Prime Minister Victor Yanukjovich is making his working visit to Poland. During his visit, he will meet with Jaroslav Kachinsky, Chairman of Council of Ministers of Poland. One of the main topics to be discussed will be energy security.
