Footballers of Azerbaijan’s Baki Club Fined

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 September/ Trend , corr R. Ergun/ Footballers of Baki club of Azerbaijan, who lost to Karvan club by 0:3 in the last round of Premier League of Azerbaijan have been punished.

"We did not play football in a match with Karvan. They were too confident. Some footballers considered themselves champions of Azerbaijan. Such actions never go unpunished," Zeynal Mammadov, general manager of the Baki club said to Trend .

Baki is considered to be one the candidates for championship in Premier League of Azerbaijan. The club ranks fourth with 10 points after five rounds.

The defeat of club of capital city to Karvan with 0:3 was unexpected.

Baki is not expected to lose with big score in the next round of the League, Mammadov said.

Karvan is not a strong team. However, our footballers underestimated their rivals. We punished them after the game. We fined them for bad performance. They must draw a lesson from it, general manager said.

Baki will meet with Bakili club in the next round.
