BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. An explosion took place at the LocationBaku nightclub on Tarlan Aliyarbayov Street in the center of Baku, Trend reports.
Police and еhe forces of the State Fire Service and the Special Risk Rescue Service of Minister for Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan were immediately arrived to the scene.
When assessing the operational situation at the scene, it was found that an explosion occurred at an object operating as a nightclub, which led to a fire and a collapse inside the premises.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of firefighters, the fire was extinguished in a short time. Search and rescue operations are underway at the site.
Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations, Lieutenant-General Etibar Mirzoev, is at the scene. According to preliminary data, as a result of the incident there are dead and injured.
The Ministry of Health said 35 ambulance and emergency medical teams are on site. At 04:20, 24 people (13 men, 11 women) were hospitalized.
According to preliminary information, the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
