Azerbaijani Citizen Drowns While Boldly Rescuing Schoolgirls in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / An Azerbaijani citizen drowned while rescuing schoolgirls in Georgia. According to the Georgian Fund of 'Calls of the Millennium - Georgia', an employee of the Oil and Gas Construction contractor company on the rehabilitation of the Georgian main oil pipeline of North-South, Kamal Mammadov, tried to rescue three drowning schoolgirls. The date of the incident has not been publicized.

The girls were taking photos of themselves when they fell down the steep bank at the Aragvi River. Kamal Mammadov, born in 1957, and his colleague, Vilayat Balajanov, immediately threw themselves into the water. They managed to rescue one of the girls, while Mammadov and the two other schoolgirls drowned.

The Fund of 'Calls of the Millennium - Georgia' presented its condolences to the family of Mammadov and thanked the people who tried to rescue the girls by putting their own lives at risk.
