Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported that some 74 women serving their sentence in the Azerbaijani Women's Prison were condemned for the participation in drug trafficking.
According to Vasilii Mohsumov, a representative of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Problems, drug addiction becomes the main reason for tragedy and divorce in families.
The representative of the State Committee noted that they paid most attention to ceasing drug trafficking among women. With this aim the committee has an 'Open doors' policy for women, serving their sentences in prisons.
Israfil Aliyev, the chairman of the task group of the State Committee on Drug Enforcement and Drug Trafficking, stated that 70% of those arrested for drug trafficking were young offenders.
