Azerbaijan boosts investments in Kyrgyzstan for 1H2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 9

Azerbaijani investments in Kyrgyzstan have surged from January through June 2021, Trend reports citing the Kyrgyz National Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, this indicator amounted to over $2.2 million, which is 11 times more than in the first half of 2020 ($203,800).

Most of the investments accounted for healthcare, wholesale and retail trade.

Besides, Azerbaijan’s share in the total investments in Central Asian countries made up 0.7 percent.

Investments of the CIS countries in Kyrgyzstan during the first half of 2021 rose by $23.4 million (45.7 percent) on annual basis and amounted to $51.2 million, while, the total foreign direct investment amounted to $321 million, which is two times more than from January through August last year.

More than 97 percent of foreign direct investment fell on the spheres of geological exploration (growth of 3.9 times), processing (an increase of 1.5 times), mining (up by five times), finance and insurance (12.6-percent decrease), information and communications (growth of 27.8 percent), wholesale and retail trade (an increase of 30 percent).
