BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. Turkmenistan’s oil products exported by sea through Azerbaijani terminals from January through June 2022 accounted for about 80 percent, Trend reports, citing Argus, an international independent pricing agency.
According to the report, more than 592,000 tons of Turkmen raw materials were transported through Azerbaijan. Overall, however, the Trans-Caspian supply of oil products from Turkmenistan decreased by 40 percent over the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2021.
"More than half of this amount, 320,000 tons, fell on shipments of fuel oil produced by Turkmenbashi refinery. The largest volumes of Turkmen product in this direction in the reporting period of 2022 were shipped by Areti, Danube Petrol Trade, Maddox and Napeco companies," the report said.
At the same time, in the first half of the current year, the companies refrained from transporting on the Volgo-Don Shipping Channel (VDGC) because of the unstable situation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea region.
According to one of the exporters, the transshipment through Azerbaijan, which remains the main route for maritime transport for Turkmenistan, will be carried out in the nearest future.
Meanwhile, sea shipment of oil products from Turkmenistan from January through June 2022 exceeded 662,000 tons (826,000 tons over the same period of 2021).
