Volume of trade turnover in Baku exceed $7B

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 26. The volume of trade turnover in Baku from January through May 2023 increased by 4.2 percent compared to 2022 and amounted to 7.5 billion manat ($4.4 billion), Trend reports.

According to the Baku City Statistics Department, sales in the Baku retail chain of food, beverages, and tobacco products during the reporting period increased by 10.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 - up to 6.5 billion manat ($3.8 billion).

Sales of non-food products decreased by 2.2 percent to 5.4 billion manat ($3.1 billion).

According to the statistics department, a total of 37 percent of the sold products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 40.4 percent - on trade objects owned by individual entrepreneurs, and 22.6 percent - on the markets of Baku.

Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover in Baku in 2022 increased by 5 percent compared to 2021 and amounted to 30.8 billion manat ($18.1 billion).

According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 2022 increased by 55.36 percent, or $18.7 billion, compared to 2021 - from $33.9 billion to $52.6 billion.
