Azerbaijan May to Become Member of World Trade Organization by Mid 2009: Secretary of State Accession Commission to WTO

А.Badalova / Azerbaijan has every capacity to complete joining process to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to become the member of the organization by the mid of 2009, Adalat Muradov, the head of the Secretariat of the Azerbaijan Accession Commission to WTO and Representative of the Ministry of Economic Development

The developed proposals have already been submitted to the US, European Commission, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Bilateral meetings are planning to hold with aforesaid countries.

Azerbaijan has been held four meetings with WTO so far. The first two meetings were dedicated for discussions of foreign trade regime, and beginning from 2005 Azerbaijan held full scale negotiations during the latest two meetings. The main issues of bilateral negotiations are accession of commodities and services into Azerbaijan market, multilateral and domestic support of agricultural and export subsidies in this sphere.

Armenia undertook obligation not to hinder Azerbaijan join WTO.
