A cooperation agreement is expected to be signed between Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Greek Hellenic Federation of Enterprises - SEV, AZPROMO said on May 8.

"The signing will take place during the Azerbaijani-Greek business forum," the same source said.

Greek delegation will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiontis. It will include nearly 40 companies in various sectors of the economy (from the pharmacy, agriculture and consulting services). Of Azerbaijani companies, currently more than 80 expressed their desire to participate in the forum, but their number is expected to increase.

AZPROMO said that this is the second business forum with Greece this year. The first forum was held on 15-16 February in the country, which was of familiarization character mainly. Formerly the business circles of both countries held meetings, and even a Business Council was suggested to be created to expand trade and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Greece.

Partner in the Council from the Azerbaijani side was considered in three options: Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation, National Entrepreneurship Confederation and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As a result of 2008, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Greece amounted to $297.5 million, of which 290.9 million was accounted for export operations.
