According to data provided by the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, in January to August, cargo transportation by vehicles made up 27.49 million tons of cargo or 62.91 percent less than the same period of 2008.
During reported period, export via sea totaled 181,100 tons of cargo, railway - 2.07 million tons, car - 286,200 tons, air - 1.6 million tons, and transport via pipelines made up 18.43 million tons. Import via sea totaled 214,400 tons, railway - 3.69 million tons, car - 974,500 tons and air - 14,700 tons.
Transit transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan for seven months totaled 4.2 million tons of cargo, which is 4.7 percent or 187,600 tons less than seven months of last year.
Transit transportation via Azerbaijan to Switzerland totaled 1.4 million tons of cargo, Bermuda - 698,200 tons, Italy - 903,800 tons, Georgia - 372,700 tons, Turkmenistan - 238,900 tons, Tajikistan - 194,800 tons, Russia - 80,100 tons, Turkey - 70,800 tons and Iran - 133,700 tons.
