Azerbaijan, Baku, July 3/Trend M. Moezzi
Iran's Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari announced his ministry has 10 major programmes ready to neutralise the effects of sanctions on the economy.
One is to increase non-petroleum exports in order to bring foreign currency into the country, the minister told the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA).
He did not disclose details of other programs.
July 1 marked the beginning of the European Union's ban on purchasing Iran's oil. The European companies, who insure almost all of the world's oil tankers, will also stop insuring those vessels carrying Iranian oil.
Mr.Ghazanfari also said the price of meat and chicken would be controlled by his ministry, adding that feed for poultry and livestock is being stockpiled right now.
The Minister expressed hopes that Iran would not only meet its domestic needs, but become a poultry exporter.
In recent days the price of chicken has soared despite the government's promises that it could control market prices. Poultry growers say they have no feed for their animals and can't afford to pay the extremely high prices being charged by some producers.
