The number of profitable banks in Azerbaijan amounted to 36 in May 2012, not changing compared to May 2011, the Azerbaijani Central Bank said on Wednesday.
Total revenue of the banking sector amounted to 118.95 million manat in May, which is by 44.74 percent more compared to April 2012, and by 74.4 percent compared to May 2011.
The number of unprofitable banks compared to April 2012 didn't change, and dropped by 2 up to 8 compared to May 2011. As a result a loss of 8 banks amounted to 65.79 million manat, which is 4 percent less compared to the figure for April 2012 and 4.36 times - than in May 2011.
