Implementing a development plan will boost Bandar Abbas refinery's gasoline output by 4.8 million liters per day, Farhad Ahmadi, Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company said.
He told the IRNA News Agency that the gasoline production project has progressed by 67 percent. He added that the project costs 8.7 trillion rials (some $710 million) to be completed.
Bandar Abbas refinery, located south of Iran, produced some 19.9 percent of the country's total gasoline output in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19, the manger of the refinery said in April.
Hashem Namvar told Shana news agency that the refinery also accounted for 12.9 percent of the total liquefied gas, 13.6 percent of the total kerosene, 16.4 percent of the total gas oil and 23.3 percent of the total furnace oil outputs.
A development plan, aiming to boost the refinery's capacity to 32,000 barrels per day (bpd) from 230,000bpd, was implemented in 2008 at the cost of 550 billion rials (some $44.8 million), he said.
A number of petrochemical projects will come on stream by the end of spring (June 21), boosting the country's gasoline output by around 20 million liters per day, Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami said in January.
Gasoline production units at the Imam Khomeini, Shazand, Abadan, Tondgouyan and Lavan refineries will be put into operation by mid-June, he told the Shana news agency.
Four development plans will come on stream by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012), boosting the country's gasoline production capacity to 70 million liters per day, Mehr news agency reported.
