A meeting was held in Ashgabat with the special envoy of the Portuguese Foreign Ministry, Portuguese Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Turkey, Paula Leal da Silva, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message.
The diplomat drew attention to the need to develop trade and economic cooperation and expand contacts in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It was stressed that both sides have great potential for a significant expansion of the entire spectrum of relationships.
The sides discussed further cooperation between the two countries on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and respect, the ministry said.
During the talks, proposals were voiced to intensify diplomatic cooperation, and the sides mulled aspects of cooperation within international organizations.
