Volume of money transfers in Kazakhstan increases dramatically

The volume of remittances sent by the population of Kazakhstan through the money transfer systems amounted to 651.4 billion tenge in January-August 2018, Ranking.kz reports.

Most of the money was sent abroad – 380.1 billion tenge, with the 27.5 percent growth for the year.

The volume of funds received from abroad is 220.5 billion tenge with an increase of 15.2 percent year-over-year, while the remittances within the country amounted to 50.9 billion tenge, but at the same time the highest growth is also observed here – by 4 times.

Russia’s "Zolotaya Korona" leads among the money transfer systems in terms of the volume of transactions in Kazakhstan in January-August 2018 – 16.7 billion tenge, which is an increase of 5.6 times year-over-year. The share of the system has risen to 32.9 percent.

"Faster" is in second place with 2.2 billion tenge, which is 48.5 percent less than last year. The system’s share has decreased from 33.3 to 4.3 percent.

"Western Union" with 1.8 billion tenge, which is 9.2 percent less than in January-August last year, closes the top three. Its share has dropped to 3.6 percent.

"Zolotaya Korona", "Faster" and "Western Union" also lead in terms of the number of transactions. The volume of transactions through "Zolotaya Korona" amounted to 98,200, which is an increase of 8.3 times compared to last year. Its share has increased from 8.5 to 46.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the volume of transactions through "Faster" is 24,700, which is 51.9 percent less than in the same period last year. The share has decreased from 36.8 to 11.7 percent.

As for "Western Union", it has 5,200 transactions, which is 18.7 percent less than last year. The share of the system has decreased from 4.6 to 2.5 percent.

The official exchange rate on October 1 is 363,07 USD/KZT.
