National Bank of Georgia reveals volume of annual inflation in August 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1

Annual inflation in August 2020 amounted to 4.8 percent in Georgia, while compared to July, the overall price level remained practically unchanged, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.

As reported, under the influence of seasonal factors, grapes and apples fell in price, which reduced inflation by a total of 0.2 percentage points.

In August, compared to the previous month, the most noticeable change in prices was due to the rise in prices for gasoline and gold, which increased inflation by 0.2 percentage points (PP).

In August 2020, prices for durable goods and services increased by 0.5 and 0.2 percent, respectively, compared to the previous month. Prices for short-term consumer goods remained at about the same level. Prices for medium-term consumer goods fell 1.2 percent.

Compared to previous months, annual food inflation remains high. Annual food price inflation in August was 9.1 percent.
