The Iran President will attend the inauguration ceremony of the third unit of Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant in the form of a video conference on Sunday, an official with Iran's Thermal Power Plant Holding (TPPH) announced.

The third unit of Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant with a capacity of 160 MW will be put into operation by the president on Sunday,” an official with Iran's Thermal Power Plant Holding (TPPH) Alireza Nasrollahi said in a press conference, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“Construction of Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant with 3 steam and 6 gas units, costs over $547 million. In addition to meeting local needs, the electricity generated by this power plant will be added to the national grid,” he said adding that one-third of the total costs were allocated to the 3rd unit.

He went on to say that the construction of this unit has been done by local experts.

Regarding the possibility of consuming Mazut in combined cycle power plants, he said that this kind of power plant will not be able to use mazut at all due to the type of technology, and in principle, mazut is used in the thermal power plant.

Nasrollahi noted that with the operation of the third unit of Shirvan Combined Cycle Power Plant, the possibility of exporting electricity to neighboring countries will increase.

He described the plant as one of the largest state-owned power plants, creating indirect employment for 500 to 600 people.
