Uzbekistan, Hungary eye creating conditions for expanding mutual trade

Uzbekistan and Hungary discussed issues of expanding trade between the two countries, creating conditions for mutual trade, as well as the implementation of investment projects, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCI).

It is reported that during the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Hungary, the Chairman of the CCI of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov met with the President of the CCI of Hungary Laszlo Parragh.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Farizshokh Usmanov and Head of the Territorial Administration of the Karakalpakstan Republic of Damir Zholdasov.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects of Uzbek-Hungarian relations in trade, economic, investment, and other spheres. In addition, the issue of establishing cooperation between the Territorial Administrations of the CCI in the Karakalpakstan Republic of Uzbekistan and the Regional Chamber of Haidu Bihar (Hungary) was also discussed.

Furthermore, during the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to Hungary, a business meeting will be organized in the B2B format, which will be held during the Uzbek-Hungarian business forum with the participation of representatives of business circles of the two countries.

It is noted that it is planned to sign an Agreement on the establishment of a Business Council and an Agreement on cooperation between the regional departments of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Hungary within the framework of the upcoming events.

According to the information, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Hungary in 2020 amounted to $109.3 million, increasing by 53.9 percent, including export - $538,300, import - $108,700 million.

As of January 2021, 10 enterprises with the participation of the Hungarian side operate in Uzbekistan, six of which are joint ventures and four enterprises - with 100 percent foreign capital.
