Uzbekistan’s 3M2021 retail trade turnover of small business decreases

The turnover of retail trade of small business and private entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan in 1Q2021 decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan from January through March 2021 reached 46.7 trillion soums ($4.4 billion), increasing by 2.8 percent, compared to the same period in 2020. At the same time, the turnover of large enterprises amounted to 8.1 trillion soums ($768 million), increasing by 20.9 percent.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of turnover of large enterprises amounted to 17.5 percent of total sales, increasing by 0.4 percent compared to February 2021. Their main dislocation was observed in Tashkent (trade turnover $398 million), Samarkand ($84 million), and Tashkent ($56 million) regions.

As for small and private trade enterprises, a shortage was recorded in 3M2021. The turnover of retail trade of small business and private entrepreneurship exceeded 34.2 trillion soums ($3.2 billion) and decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the same period in 2020. In fact, this gap is narrowing - in February it amounted to 1.4 percent.

In addition, the largest share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was noted in Fergana (83 percent), Navoi (82.5 percent), Syrdarya (81.2 percent) regions, and the Karakalpakstan Republic (82.3 percent).

Also, the turnover of unorganized trade in 1Q2021 exceeded 4.2 trillion soums ($398 million), increasing by 1.7 percent compared to the same period in 2020. Including trade turnover in dehkan (farm) markets amounted to $171 million (an increase of 1.8 percent), trade turnover in livestock markets was recorded at $227 million (an increase of 1.6 percent).

The retail turnover per capita in the country for the reporting period $1,279 (a decrease of 0.9 percent). This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more recorded in Tashkent, Navoi and Tashkent regions.
