Uzbekistan exempts some imported furniture parts from customs duties

Certain Imported parts for the furniture production in Uzbekistan are exempt from customs duties until January 1, 2023, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, some 15 small industrial zones (SIZ) will be created in Uzbek regions, specializing in the production of furniture parts, in a cluster way. It was noted that production areas in SIZ will be sold through an electronic online auction on the basis of ownership.

It is noted that compensation payments for losses in agricultural and forestry production associated with the allocation of land plots for the creation of small industrial zones, as an exception, are not levied.

The Export Promotion Agency will cover the costs of 50 percent of the transport costs for the import of raw materials of local enterprises, whose share in the annual proceeds from the export of finished furniture products in 2021-2024 is at least 30 percent.

In addition, until January 1, 2024, for exporting enterprises specializing in the production of furniture parts, when exporting furniture to all countries, including neighboring countries, the agency will cover 50 percent of the costs of road and rail transportation, but no more than five percent of the value of export of products (excluding transportation costs) by road and seven percent - by rail.
