Turkmenistan’s Toprak enterprise, the country's largest waste paper processor and manufacturer of paper and corrugated board, plans to expand the range of recyclable waste and increase production capacity, Trend reports referring to Turkmen media.

According to the information, the company's specialists have developed a project for a new site, where they will collect and process urban waste. It was decided to use not only waste paper for the production of paper and packaging, but also wood, deciduous and agricultural waste.

It is noted that for these purposes, funds have already been allocated and equipment for the production of cellulose and paper has been ordered.

Also, the entrepreneurs' plans include organizing the production of plastic pipes and granules from plastic waste, glass containers from recycled products, fertilizers from biodegradable waste.

The company is working on the launch of the Ashgabat Green Belt project, which involves landscaping areas near the accumulation of wastewater.

Toprak participates in the UN's Sustainable Cities program to collect and recycle paper waste using innovative methods and opening eco-sites.

The company includes two main enterprises and a small collection center in the city of Mary. Every month, enterprises purchase from business structures from 250 to 300 tons of paper waste.

The plant, which was put into operation several years ago in the Geok Tepe district, processes over a thousand tons of waste paper annually. The modern production facility, built with funds allocated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, is equipped with a paper-making line. The final product is kraft paper in rolls of two meters or more.
