Kars-Baku Rail Link Financing to be Discussed in October

A meeting will be held in October regarding the opening of the rail link through the route of Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku, in which discussions will be held on the financing of

the project, Trend reports with reference to the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan. Planning of the route will commence after all issues relating to its financing has been clarified.

The repayment of the credits that will occur during the construction work of the project will be prepared in the scheme, and each participant will have to be responsible for its debt. The tariffs will be specific for each participant, and these issues will be defined by the working group.

The project of creating the railway transport corridor Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku includes the construction of the 98 railway stretches Kars-Akhalkalaki, with 68 km through the territory of Turkey and the remaining 30 km through Georgia. In addition, it is intended to reconstruct the section of AkhalkalakiTbilisi. The project is estimated at $400 million.
