Ukraine, Kiev, 26 September/ Trend , corr Z. Novosvitski/ President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko demands the government to begin official talks with Russian Federation to fix prices for gas for 2009.
Addressing the meeting of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, President demanded Cabinet of Ministers to start official talks.
"The statements made by the government on this issue should steadily be interpreted and directives should be worked out. We should steadily hold these hard talks, but not to whisper," President said.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko and her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are expected to meet at the end of September.
Tymohsnko said on 22 September that she plans to hold talks with her Russian counterpart regarding signing of agreement on gas supply to Ukraine.
