Over 1.39 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to Georgian markets through SOCAR Gas Export-Import (Azerbaijani State Oil Company) in 2012, SOCAR said on Friday.

According to the report, SOCAR Georgia Gas, which is a subsidiary of SOCAR Energy Georgia (it represents SOCAR's interests in Georgia) and distributes gas in the Georgian market, imported some 532.6 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia in 2012.

SOCAR Energy Georgia supplied more than 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to the Georgian market in 2011. Around 564.05 million cubic meters of the total volume of gas delivered to the Georgian market fell to commercial gas, and more than 1.15 billion cubic meters to social gas.

SOCAR and the Georgian government signed an agreement in late December 2008 to transfer 30 gas distribution facilities and gas distribution networks covering different Georgian regions for management.

In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement that created an opportunity to intensify SOCAR's activity in the Georgian gas market over the next five years, beginning in 2009. According to a contract, SOCAR created the subsidiary SOCAR Georgia Gas to implement the project which provides consumer groups defined by the Georgian government with gas.
