By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

The electricity generation amounted to 18.302 billion kilowatt / hours in Turkmenistan for 11 months of 2013 or 104.3 percent more than the planned figure, the Turkmen Ministry of Energy and Industry said on Monday.

"Some 2.644 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity were exported," according to the report. "Around 2.39 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity were gratuitously delivered to the Turkmen people."

The increased potential of this field allows not only fully supporting all domestic consumers, but also supplying Turkmen electricity to other countries due to the powerful power stations and new transmission lines built in different regions of the country in a short period, according to the ministry.

Turkmen power stations run on natural gas, supplied from the nearest fields. Black oil and diesel fuel from local refineries are used in case of necessity as reserve fuel.
