Kazakhstan surpasses oil production plan

Kazakhstan produced over 86 million tons of oil in 2017, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said at a briefing in Astana.

“More than 86 million tons of oil were produced in Kazakhstan last year, which exceeded the production plan by 2 percent. Furthermore, the volume of oil exports amounted to 70 million tons,” said Bozumbayev, the press service of the Kazakh prime minister reported.

He added that almost 15 million tons of oil was processed at domestic refineries.

The minister further noted that the modernization of Pavlodar petrochemical plant and Atyrau oil refinery was completed.

The volume of gas production in Kazakhstan in 2017 amounted to nearly 53 billion cubic meters, which surpassed the plan by 10 percent. By the end of 2017, the level of gasification amounted to 47.38 percent.

The ministry plans to implement 16 projects in 2018, which will lead to increase of gasification level to over 48 percent.

In 2017, Kazakhstan also produced 102.3 billion kWh of electricity and 106.7 million tons of coal.
