Eni increases oil & gas production in Kazakhstan

Eni S.p.A., an Italian multinational oil and gas company, has revealed the volume of production in Kazakhstan for the first 9 months of this year.

The company’s production of oil and natural gas in the country amounted to 136,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in the period, Eni’s report for the nine months of 2018 reads.

The figure for the same period last year was considerably lower - 132,000 boe/d.

As for Eni’s production of liquids in Kazakhstan, it reached 89,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the three quarters of this year, while the production was at 83,000 bpd in the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, the company’s production of natural gas in the country totaled 258 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) in the period. The figure was significantly higher in the nine months of 2017 – 266 mmcf/d.

Eni operates two oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan – Kashagan and Karachaganak. The company holds a 16.81 percent share in the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement, which sets terms and conditions for the exploration and development of the giant Kashagan field.

Eni’s interest in the giant field of Karachaganak is 29.25 percent. Operations are conducted by the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating Consortium. In 2017, production at the field averaged 247,000 bpd of liquids with 54,000 bpd net to Eni, and 931 mmcf/d of natural gas with 209 mmcf/d net to the company.
