Iran shares data on electricity generation by renewable energy power plants

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun. 2

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The renewable energy power plants in Iran generated about 145 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of the Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization.

“As a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran for 2nd month, 41 million cubic meters of gas were saved in the consumption of fossil fuels,” the statistics said.

In addition, 32 million liters of water were saved in Iran as a result of the operation of the renewable energy power plants within the second month, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, with the operation of these power plants in Iran, the spread of 94,000 tons of CO2 gas were prevented.

“Over the 2nd month, the solar panel stations generated 429-megawatt hours of electricity, wind turbines – 308-megawatt-hours, small hydropower plants – 104 megawatt-hours, waste heat recovery stations – 13.6-megawatt hours, biomass stations - 10.5 megawatt-hours and turbo-expander -9.6 megawatt-hours. And these stations accounted for 49, 35, 12, 2, 1, 1 percent of the total generation volume, respectively,” the statistics said.

In general, 6.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated by renewable energy power plants in Iran by the end of the second month of the current Iranian year (May 21, 2021).

Also, the consumption of 1.76 billion cubic meters of gas, 1.36 billion liters of water were saved and the spread of 4.16 million tons of greenhouse gases (CO2) were prevented as a result of the operation of these power plants in Iran so far, the statistics said.
