Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the need to ensure the production of additional volumes of gas at the country's hydrocarbon fields, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
The issue was discussed at a working meeting on the development of the fuel-energy and financial-economic complexes of the country.
So, Berdimuhamedov gave instructions to expand the geography of the export of Turkmen gas to foreign markets and simultaneously carry out urgent work to conclude contracts with interested neighboring and regional states for the supply of natural gas on a short, medium and long term basis.
Besides, the president instructed to intensify the development of the Galkynysh field [in the Mary region], which is one of the first in the world for gas reserves.
For the successful implementation of obligations under the concluded contracts for the sale and purchase of gas in the coming years, it’s necessary to ensure the production of additional volumes of it at other hydrocarbon fields in the country, he emphasized.
Berdimuhamedov instructed the State Concern "Turkmengaz" to thoroughly study the relevant world experience when signing contracts for the purchase and sale of natural gas and gave appropriate instructions regarding the tasks of exporting Turkmen gas to foreign countries.
