Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region has a huge potential for the construction of solar and wind power plants in the future, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the press conference dedicated to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Garadagh solar power plant with a capacity of 230 megawatts, Trend reports.

The minister said that the issues of green and clean energy will be worked out in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions within the memorandums signed on March 15.

“It is planned to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts in the Kalbajar-Lachin zone,” Shahbazov said. “Moreover, it is planned to develop solar energy in the region through foreign investments.”

The minister added that the Karabakh region has a huge potential for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts in the future.
