Iran’s South Pars Gas Company observes high production in four months

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. Iran's South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) produced more than 64 billion cubic meters of natural gas during the 4 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), the Executive Director of the SPGC, Ahmad Bahush, said, Trend reports.

In four months, the company also produced 85 million barrels of gas condensate, according to Bahush.

"Moreover, the SPGC produced over 211,000 tons of sulfur, 740,000 tons of ethane, and 2 million tons of propane and butane within the mentioned period," he added.

Concerning the company's repair work, the director stated that extensive repair work at the company's gas refineries has begun as of April 20, 2023. So far, four refineries have had their repairs completed. Three refineries are currently being renovated. By the winter, all gas refineries are expected to be restored and completed.

The South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) of Iran processes high-quality gas extracted from the South Pars gas field. This corporation provides more than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country. The corporation operates 12 gas refineries.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
