ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 5. Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have confirmed their commitment to bring the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project to full implementation, Trend reports.
This commitment was confirmed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd Muhammetmyrat Amanov and the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan Shahabuddin Delawar during a meeting during which they discussed the progress of this project.
During the meeting, Shahabuddin Delawar noted that for its part, Kabul will continue to make efforts to implement the plan to lay a gas pipeline from Central to South Asia.
The CEO of the company, in turn, noted that he had already held a similar meeting at the end of September last year, during which the Afghan government also expressed full support for the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
To date, TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd includes Turkmenistan's Turkmengaz State Concern, Afghan Gas Enterprise (AGE), Inter State Gas Systems (Private) Limited (Pakistan) and GAIL (India).
Meanwhile, it is expected that the TAPI gas pipeline will annually transport 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas along an 1800-kilometer route from the Turkmen Galkynysh, the second largest gas field in the world, to the Indian city of Fazilka, located near the border of India and Pakistan.
