AzHPP rehabilitation start date defined

Commencement of rehabilitation of power blocks at Azerbaijan Heating Power Plant in Mingachevir is expected during 1Q2007, Trend reports quoting Marlen Askerov, vice-president of Azenerji AO.

Askerov said by the end of 2006 AO is acquiring EBRDs credit under the project, selecting the consultant, call for tender and define general contractor. Construction

operations themselves are starting next year.

By the end of May Azenerji shall select technical consultant under the project and it has already examined proposals submitted by 5 companies of Germany, Japan, Finland and submitted them to EBRD.

AzHPP, constructed in 80s, is the largest power plant in Azerbaijan that includes 8 blocks, 30MW each. This year Azenerii and Power Machines of Russia recovered fifth block and achieved power production of some 330-340 РњW.

The rehabilitation project includes recovery of seven blocks, water intake system and chimney.
