Health & social services investments soar in Kazakhstan

In the first 10 months of 2018, investments in health and social services in Kazakhstan reached 83.96 billion tenge, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.

Thus, the annual increase was 40.6 percent, which is the maximum growth rate over the past five years.

The main source of investment financing for January-October 2018 was the local budget: 34.1 billion tenge, or 40.6 percent of the total funding.

Businesses’ own funds amounted to 29.4 billion tenge (35 percent), while 16.2 billion tenge (19.3 percent) was allocated from the national budget. Bank loans and borrowed funds financed health and social services by 2.3 billion and 2 billion tenge, respectively.

Regionally, the largest investments in health and social services in the first 10 months of 2018 were made in the Almaty region: 14.3 billion tenge, 59.6 percent up year-on-year.

The top three also includes Almaty (13 billion tenge, 0.8 percent up) and Astana (8.1 billion tenge, 63.1 percent up). The majority of Kazakhstan’s medical centers are located in these two mega cities.
